The significance of rubber processing
Rubber processing has played an outstanding role in the industry since the 19th century. In 1838, Charles Goodyear recognized the industrial usability of rubber, laying the foundation for the development of stable and elastic rubber products. This groundbreaking discovery led to the development of the automobile tire and the worldwide spread of elastomer products in all areas.
Pioneer in tire repair
In 1921, Friedrich Mahnke founded a company in Hamburg specializing in tire repair. Despite the challenging economic and political circumstances before and after World War II, the company developed into a regionally recognized and successful firm.
Rise of industrial vulcanization
In the 1950s, industrial vulcanization increasingly gained ground as an alternative to the tire business. Initially in parallel and later exclusively, we expanded our focus to cover the processing of all areas of industry where elastomer products are used. This development led to significant economic successes in the following decades.
Establishment of Peter Mahnke GmbH
In the early 1970s, Peter Mahnke made the decision to establish a new company focused exclusively on industrial vulcanization. The Peter Mahnke GmbH was founded in Schleswig-Holstein and has since developed into a medium-sized company active in industrial vulcanization regionally and globally.
Workplace safety
Mahnke GmbH places great importance on workplace safety and is proud to be certified according to the quality standard DIN EN ISO 9001-2015 by TÜV-Norddeutschland. Additionally, the Kalübbe location has specific certifications in the field of occupational safety:
Kalübbe: We have been certified according to SCC** (Safety Certificate Contractors) since 2016.
Rostock: Our workplace safety has been recognized since 2012 through the certification "Safety with System" by the Berufsgenossenschaft Rohstoffe und chemische Industrie (BGRCI).
To implement consistent work processes and safety standards at both locations, the introduction of SCC** is also planned for the Rostock location in the year 2024.
These certifications underline our dedicated commitment to the safety of our employees and the adherence to the highest standards in all aspects of workplace safety.
For us, certification in the field of workplace safety is not a one-time step but a continuous process. We consider it an important part of our corporate culture and strive to integrate safe work practices into our daily routines.
Through regular training and further education, we keep our employees up to date with workplace safety regulations and promote their awareness of potential hazards. We place great emphasis on ensuring that safety measures are not just on paper but actively implemented and practiced.
Our goal is to create a safe working environment for our employees where they can give their best without unnecessary risks. We are committed to continuously improving and optimizing our workplace safety standards to avoid accidents and injuries and ensure the health and well-being of our employees.
Through this ongoing process, we ensure that workplace safety is firmly embedded in our corporate culture and continuously considered in our work processes.
