History

Since the 19th century, rubber processing has been well-established within industry. In 1838, the first industrial use of rubber was recognised as a basis for stable and elastic rubber by Goodyear. This is when the development of the car tyre started. Today, so-called elastomer products are used in diverse areas throughout the world.

In 1921, Friedrich Mahnke decided to establish a company in Hamburg. The company specialised in the repair of tyres. Despite the complicated economic and political situation before and after the Second World War, the company developed to become regionally well-known and successful.

In the 1950’s, specialisation in tyres was replaced more and more by industrial vulcanisation. In the beginning this took place on a parallel basis, but later on exclusively; all areas in industry in which elastomer products were used were serviced. The following decades were characterised by significant economic success.

Peter Mahnke decided to build up a new company that specialised exclusively in industrial vulcanisation at the beginning of the 70s and established the company Peter Mahnke GmbH in Schleswig-Holstein. As an industrial representative of REMA TIP TOP, the company has developed to become a medium-sized enterprise that is active both regionally and globally within the vulcanisation industry.
